Life with little ones is often chaotic but there is still so much beauty and joy in the midst of the chaos as long as we learn to let go when things don’t live up to our unrealistic ideals. Our evening in the field didn’t quite pan out like I had envisioned but I still tried my best to embrace the moment at hand and not the one I had planned. My children had no interest in taking pictures with me, but they were perfectly content running around and picking wildflowers so I decided to just go with the flow and take our session in a different direction instead. On our walk back, we came across a deer and her two fawns playing in the field. I was touched by her motherly love for her two babes as she gracefully led them through the tall grass. Even though I didn’t get the image of me with both my children that I had wanted, I was grateful to have the opportunity to witness and document the beauty of motherhood for someone else instead. It was a powerful reminder to be grateful for what I am given instead of focusing on what I thought I wanted.
This post is part of a year long collaborative personal project where an amazing group of photographers and I have committed to get in front of the camera once a month to document our love for our children. Please continue the blog circle to view what the talented Allison Craig of Lentille Photography has to share.
